For those of you
who have never heard of me or this web site, I've been the guy at the drums for
Shades of Grey, 'Zilla, Rock Bottom and Brutal Biscuit. I was born and raised in the small town of Middleburgh
-- that would be located some place in upstate New York. (Just don't blink
when you drive through!) Although I'm not going to get into a lot of
history -- here is just a brief
look into my musical past.
I started at nine years old with a snare drum for my birthday. My parents said if I could get into the school band they would buy me a drum set. I got into the school band at 10 or 11 and got my first set. Shortly thereafter, I was kicked out of school band for acting like an asshole, but I had the set. At about 13 years old, I started private lessons with a New York City musician by the name of Joe Liardo. I was taught many things from reading music, sight reading charts and drumming in the studio. I learned various forms of drumming, jazz, fusion, rock, metal, Latin. The lessons lasted once a week for a little over three years.
I jammed with the Crabill’s and Armlin’s from there on. I eventually got back into school band again and I played concert band, marching band, jazz ensemble, All County Concert Band, and All County Jazz Ensemble. I received a scholarship from playing All County Jazz Ensemble, it provided me the opportunity to attend a music camp at Colgate University.
Throughout this entire time I continued to play in bands with many friends.
Music continues to be a passion that plays into my life in many ways. Tracie is my love and most ardent fan. She supports me through everything. My friends and family are truly incredible. They provide the laughter and strength that keeps me going.
